Sadiq Khan has appointed Amy Lamé, comedian, broadcaster and one time Mayoress of Camden, as London’s first Night Czar. Her role will entail protecting and promoting the night time economy of London, which some see as being unfairly attacked in recent years.
She said: “For too long, the capital’s night-time industry has been under pressure — music venues and nightclubs in particular are closing at an alarming rate… I’m confident that I can inspire a positive change in the way people think about the night-time economy.”
We’re delighted with her appointment and look forward to hearing her ideas and policies around London’s night life. The recent launch of the night tube in Camden Town is going to make a huge difference to the night time economy, and will be enhanced by the presence of someone specifically protecting our iconic venues and what they bring to the city.
Congratulations to her!
