Who We Are and What We Do

What do we do?

The Camden Town Unlimited team has been serving the business community for over ten years.

Like any BID, our fundamental purpose is to enhance the commercial environment for our business community, creating a robust and sustainable local economy. What makes us stand out is the activities we take part in, projects we implement and discussions we lead.

We go beyond the traditional remit of BIDs.

We use contacts at all levels of government to ensure our members’ voices are heard. We implement community projects that boost the reputation of Camden Town and bridge the gaps between major companies, startups, and residential communities. We initiate major streetscape changes that regenerate the high street and attract footfall. We fill vacant, empty buildings with vibrant communities of creatives.

How do we do it? Our partnerships include Camden Council, TfL, the GLA, Central Government and private sector stakeholders. These relationships are key to the advocating, planning and executing our projects.

What have we achieved?

We secured an additional 28 officers to patrol the area – crime was a central issue to our business members, and was having a very real effect on local business.

We lobbied successfully for a £10 million streetscape regeneration plan, and works have been ongoing since 2007.

We created a charity called Camden Collective which has revitalised the area with creative businesses, including giving 170 startups popup space and currently housing 150 businesses in Collective Temperance.

We continue to promote Camden Town’s ‘creative quarter’, and have primed the area for other incubators and coworking spaces to become established.

Run by business, for business

CTU is entirely accountable to its member community. Our management team is directly answerable to a board of local business leaders, elected annually from and by our business membership.

Our agenda is set according to the priorities of our business members. This ensures that all of our initiatives are designed to benefit local businesses, the economy and general trading environment.ctu-proposal-designed-map
